Free advertising? when you really think about this, I am sure it is very appealing and most of us will say free is good. How many times has anything free worked well or given some real value? I am all for saving money and getting something free is a real savings. My only question is, can it produce real results and get the return you need for your product or service?

With free advertising, you have no control and can not expect real results from this type of advertising. Free advertising will be in locations that are very low traffic or have so many offers that yours will get lost in all the print that is around it. Can you really expect something for nothing? Can you get lucky and get some good results from free advertising? Absolutely you can, but in business you need consistency and you can not expect it from free advertising.

Free advertising can get some good results occasionally, but as an overall way of getting positive results, it can be a dead end road. You would be better off finding low cost targeted markets to advertise in and use the experts in the field to get you the right kind of customers. Free advertising has a great appeal, so you can do it as long as you do not depend on it for results.

The type of free advertising on the internet is; from search engine optimization and sites that have forums or free banners. SEO is free, but the work you must do to get the traffic it sends, will cost you in hours of study in order to perfect the technique. SEO is a method to get traffic on the Internet and thus we may consider it a form of free advertising.

Can we survive on free advertising? No is the answer and the next question is; can we still do it? Yes, but with the understanding that we do not depend on it and our main source of advertising will be a paid targeted type of advertising. This will insure you are getting your product in front of the customers most likely in need of your product or services and more likely to purchase.

Advertising is a tool for your business and when used correctly can make your business very successful. Where you advertise and how you do the research on getting results will be key on your success. Am I saying not to use free advertising? No not at all, but use it as a research tool and not the main source of getting traffic or customers to your product or services.

Research free advertising and use surveys to get information that is important to your product or services, then you can see demographics to target a low cost form of advertising in order to get results. As you can see there is a lot of work that needs to be done in order to get good results from advertising. Research surveys are very good tools to use when using free advertising; it can give you exact ways of reaching your targeted customers.

In closing I want to say that free advertising can be an invaluable tool if used correctly, but being dependent on it for results is a big mistake. Used wisely it can get you information that can produce results in other forms of advertising. When advertising use all the tools that are available and make sure you are targeting the right customers so you have consistency and your business will grow accordingly.
