The Christmas Advert features Beatles No. 1 chart topping hit song “From me to you,” which includes the chorus If there’s anything that you want / If there’s anything I can do / Just call on me and I’ll send it along / With love from me to you. It’s a word that describes the over-the-top, saccharine take on Christmas that many retailers favour. And what he and the creative team have come up with is something distinctively anti-schmaltz. John Lewis always has the most wonderful Christmas ads. I still love 2008 with ‘From Me to You’ and 2009 with ‘Sweet Child of Mine’ ads. They have so much feeling.
